Mumbai, Aug. 7 -- American author and activist Helen Keller once said, "Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light."
This advice also holds true for members of the Hindi film industry. Bollywood is not an easy place to make a mark in, but when you have a best friend, the process becomes easier. On Friendship Day (August 7), B-Town actors tell us about their closest pals, and what has made them stick together.
ADITI RAO HYDARI
My best friends are twins. Their names are Amana and Sonali. I've known them since I was three, and they are hugely protective of me. I adore them. Nothing ever changes the almost telepathic bond between us. Neither distance nor work can come between us. Such 'chaddi buddies' are very special. They are like family.
BHUMI PEDNEKAR
My gang includes me, Priyanka, Shermeen, Rubina, Nisha, Tanisha and my sister Samiksha. We are like the girls from The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants (2005). We are a group of fun, talented, ambitious and like-minded girls, who are biased towards each other. We help and give each other strength, and have had a ball when we're together. These girls have a big hand in making me the person I am today. I've had the privilege of growing up with them. This is a shout out to them for being amazing.
ABHAY DEOL
I have a mixed bag of friends who I rely on. I have three best friends, and they aren't part of the industry. One of them is an actor, who is based outside the country. He gives me advice on my acting skills. The other works as a human rights professional. She keeps me grounded. Whenever I crib about my personal issues to her, she tells me stories about refugees and people in adverse conditions. The third one is an artist and is immensely talented.
KRITI SANON
Apart from my sister, Nupur Sanon, I have two college friends who I consider my closest pals - Ayushi and Kriti. Even if we don't talk for months, I can pick up the phone at any time and chat with them. It will be the same. Our friendship hasn't changed since our college days. We are always there for each other. I hope it stays the same.
